Hundreds of Ray School students gave a standing ovation to Tioga’s Neil Olson Wednesday last week, as he surpassed the milestone of donating 17 gallons of blood through United Blood Services.
“I’ve been giving somewhere between 30 to 50 years,” Olson said. “Only missed a few times. I just like to do it. It’s a habit, I’ve been doing it for years, and I want to keep doing it. I’ll keep going until I can’t go.”
Seventeen gallons of blood equates to about 408 lives saved, according to Teresa Johnson, donor recruiter with UBS.
