Tioga’s newest police officer had the honor of having his father present for an honorary badge pinning ceremony on June 4.
Officer Sam Pesik relocated to Tioga from Mankato, Minn., where he pursued a degree in law enforcement from Mankato State University.
Co-worker Officer Josh Nelson said the swearing in ceremony is one of the final steps in the process of starting out as a police officer. Typically, that occurs in a city commission meeting, when an officer’s badge is pinned on by the chief of police or a another person significant in the officer’s life.
Pesik has been working toward the goal of becoming a police officer since his senior year of high school.
