Action expected this month in Washington, D.C., could mean less paperwork for local internet provider NCC.
While that would be welcome, NCC Business Development Manager Angela Schepp said a change in federal regulation could also impact co-op customers, even though NCC has no plans to change how it serves customers.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is set to vote next week whether to repeal Obama-era regulations ensuring internet service providers (ISPs) keep internet content “neutral” and free from influence by corporations to control or regulate content to customers.
The regulations, dubbed Title II regulations, went into effect in 2015 amending a two-decade agreement devised by the Clinton administration and Republican congressmen to have little government control over how the internet is run and operated.
