For 45 years, Arley Larson has taken his passion for working with students from teaching math and coaching basketball all the way to being a high school principal.
After spending the past 31 years in Ray, Larson submitted his letter of resignation to the school board last month, effective at the end of the current school year.
Larson said the news of his retirement elicited a swarm of congratulatory messages from peers and former students reflecting on various moments from his career.
“It’s been real interesting,” he said. “It’s always fun to visit with kids from a long time ago. My first group of kids I coached, I mean, they’re in their 60s now.”
