Children of all ages waved thanks to the passing floats as they competed to receive their handfuls of sugary goodness.
Candy thrown during the Tioga Freedom Fest parade is as much a tradition on the Fourth of July as the fireworks.
The parade began at 10 a.m. at Tioga High School, traveling across town to wind up at Kum and Go.
Emma Melberg, Eleda Nelson, Aliya McDaniel, Gunner Melberg and Gage Wolla were among the children running up and down the streets cheering for candy. Stopping a moment to answer questions, the children explained how they celebrate the holiday each year with family and friends.
