Rig workers at the Nabors X13 rig west of Ray were visited by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday last week as part of his quest this year to visit every state he hadn’t before.
“I believe stopping climate change is one of the most important challenges of our generation,” Zuckerberg said in a post to his official Facebook page. “Given that, I think it’s even more important to learn about our energy industry, even if it’s controversial.”
Zuckerberg not only stopped at the rig site, but also visited with locals in Williston and Watford City before leaving the same evening.
The Facebook mogul noted many of the people he visited with advised him of the economic impacts of the energy industry in the area and how the economy depends on production at this time.
