Crop of 100-year-olds blooming

As Alta Johnson’s daughter, Patti Beck, reminds her that she is 98, Alta giggles and says, “I’m pretty old.”

Alta is one of four residents at Tioga Medical Center’s Long Term Care Center who are approaching or have reached 100 years old.

Alta, who was born on Dec. 5, 1919, and raised in Kenmare, credits her longevity to lifestyle choices.

“Eating good,” Alta says, is the secret to long life, adding that she never drank or smoked.
