Anthem protests new territory for high school sports officials

How do you follow the rules when there aren’t any?


That’s a question area school administrators and coaches are grappling with in light of recent demonstrations during the national anthem, at professional sports events.


“It hasn’t happened yet, but I bet it will,” said Tim Schaffer, head football coach at Tioga High School.


“Mr. Harding and I talked about  it just yesterday,” said Sherlock Hirning, superintendent of Divide County Schools,  referring to Athletic Director Kent Harding. “We’re not sure exactly how we’d deal with it.”
