A family move puts flowers back on Tioga’s Main Street

By Marcus White

Business is blooming, quite literally, on Main Street in Tioga after a new flower shop, Dragonfly Floral and Gifts opened its doors as part of the new Hidden Beauty Salon at the old Sportsmen Cafe.

The floral shop is operated by Kim Longie, who worked with her daughter, Jess Nygaard, to bring flowers back to Main Street as part of Nygaard’s business move from the old Shear Image building to her current location, next to the Model Tavern.

‘This is something me and my girls always wanted to do,” said Longie. “When Jess bought the building, it was something she had in mind.”

“Jess felt we really needed a floral shop,” she said. ”We all agreed.”

Longie said she is hoping to make the new shop a full-service flower and gift shop offering services ranging from births to weddings, and even, she said, “to get yourself out of the dog house.”
