A time change and a new award brought a crowd to the Bypass Restaurant & Lounge Tuesday last week for the annual Builder Awards, given each year by Divide County Economic Development Council (DCEDC).
Bev and I.J. Jacobson, recently retired from their 40-plus year stint operating Crosby’s drug store, were honored with a new “Pioneer Award,” while another longtime Crosby retail family, Joyce, Randy and Brenda Ekness, were honored for special achievement.
DCEDC President Sandra Simonson explained the pioneer award as one that will recognize people who “open up a new standard” in improving the community.
In the case of the Jacobsons, she noted, that amounted to over 43 years of operation of J. Company Drug on Crosby’s Main Street.
