Divide County school chess club attracts new players

Every Wednesday after school for the past few months, John Muncaster’s math classroom has been a hive of activity.

That’s because Muncaster started a chess club at Divide County High School last year, and attendance has been steadily growing ever since.

“There’s a lot of newcomers,” Muncaster said. “I had three new people last week.”

At a recent meeting, turnout was up to 17 students.
