A man charged with attempted murder has filed a complaint alleging Divide County Sheriff Lauren Throntveit was drunk at the time of his arrest.
Douglas Calvin James, 57, faces the felony charge as a result of a shooting incident Oct. 31 outside Nooner’s Bar in Noonan.
James’s complaint, which has been sent to media outlets across the state, as well as to the offices of the governor and attorney general, accuses Throntveit of conduct unbecoming a law enforcement officer, intoxication while performing his duties, abuse of power, malfeasance and abuse of process.
James also claims his civil rights were violated at the time of his arrest.
